Permanent Makeup FAQ'S

How many sessions are required?

Most all forms of permanent makeup require 2 sessions to achieve optimal results. The first session is to build the foundation of the brows and the touch-up session is to perfect, fluff, darken, and make adjustments if needed.6-12 week touch-ups are required for all new clients that book an initial session with us. Touch-up costs are not included with your initial service cost. We will book your touch-up appointment when you come in for your initial session appointment. A $50.00 booking deposit will be collected to book your touch-up.There is a chance that you will not need a touch-up should you love the results from your first session which is why we separate the cost of the initial session from the touch-up. If that is your case, we will cancel your touch-up appointment and refund your $50.00 deposit. Cancelling a touch-up will be done only if the providing permanent makeup artist is in agreement.

How long do they last?

You should expect microshading to last approximately 2 or more years depending on the individual client and skin type. You should expect to schedule a touch-up service every 2-3 years to prolong the application.

Is it painful?

The degree of discomfort may depend on several factors such as the location of the application and your personal pain tolerance. You may feel slight scratching during the first part of the application. After the first pass of strokes or the outline of the brow have been completed, a second numbing solution will be applied directly onto the freshly applied strokes or outline that will allow the numbing solution to penetrate the skin which will leave you with little to no feeling of the tattooing application.

I got my brows done elsewhere, can I book with you?

You will need to have a consultation before booking. If the existing pigment that is in your skin is dark, solid, blue, or the shape needs to be corrected we will likely refer you to a tattoo removal specialist.

What should I do or avoid after my appointment?

  • DO NOT get your brows wet for the 14 days post service other than when performing your brow care routine. Be very careful when showering and washing your face. If you do get your brows wet, gently pat them dry with a clean cloth.

  • DO NOT do any strenuous exercising for the 14 days post service. The salt in your sweat will break down the fresh pigment and cause premature fading

  • DO NOT fully immerse your face in water, use a sauna, or sunbathe for the first 14 days post service

  • DO NOT put makeup directly on the brows for the 14 days post service

  • DO NOT apply or use any product in or around the brow area that was not provided in your aftercare kit for 14 days post service. This includes facial cleansers, all forms of makeup, moisturizers, oils, serums, healing ointment that was not provided in your kit, Vaseline, Aquaphor, sunscreen, etc.

  • DO NOT pick at or rub your brows while they are healing! Picking at your brows may result in loss of pigment and will compromise the overall result of the application Days 1-5: Your brows may appear red, dark, thick, and bold. Days 6-10: Your brows will begin to flake, become itchy, and some parts of the brow will appear light when the flaking has begun to shed.Days 10-25: The pigment in your brows will start to return and may only appear slightly patchy.Days 25-42: You have already had or you are about to have your touch up.Days 42-365: Your brows should be beautiful and should last at least 1-2 years before your next touch up (Retention will vary per person and is not guaranteed)

What is the aftercare?

  • Before bed on night 1 of your procedure, wash your hands with soap and warm water. Squeeze a dime size amount of the brow soap provided in your kit in your hands and lather with room temperature water. Gently wash your brows using your fingertips in a swiping motion following the direction of your brow hair. Do not scrub. Cup your hands under the faucet and rinse the soap away from your brows with room temperature water. Blot your brows dry using a clean paper towel and apply a rice grain amount of the ointment provided in your kit to both brows using a cotton swab or clean finger.

  • You will wash your brows and apply ointment for 10 days morning and night. Do not wash your brows and apply ointment more than the instructed amount or longer than the instructed period of time. You should have enough soap and ointment left over that will last for use after your touch up session.

  • For 2 weeks after your session, be sure to avoid: Getting brows wet other than when cleansing, working out, swimming, saunas, hot tubs, long showers, brow makeup, facial services, direct sun exposure to the face, tanning beds, waxing or plucking brow hair, and picking at or scratching brows.

When should I schedule a 1-3 year refresher?

  • Your refresher should be scheduled any time from 1-3 years after your most recent touch up session. If you’re unsure of when your last touch up was, contact us.

  • Your brows MUST have faded at least 50% from the healed result after your last session in order for us to perform your refresher. If your brows are too saturated with pigment, new pigment won’t retain properly and your healed result won’t look great.

What is Permanent Lash Liner?

Permanent Lash Liner is a permanent makeup technique for the eyes. The pigment is tattooed with a tattoo machine and needle in between the eyelashes on the lash line. This form of permanent eyeliner is a bit different than your standard eyeliner tattoo. Permanent Lash Liner looks more subtle and natural as to enhance your eyes by making your eyelashes look fuller as opposed to tattooing pigment above the lash line that looks like makeup. Lash Liner is one of the longest lasting forms of permanent makeup that we offer as most clients can go at least 2-3 years before a refresher is needed.

This service is performed by Heather

Is a consultation required or offered before booking?
Yes a consult is required. All information discussed during a consultation can be found here on this FAQ form.

You may send us photos, we will share our thoughts as to how we would go about performing your eyeliner service, what pigment colors we would use for you, and what style of liner would best suit you.

How long does it last?
Lash Liner is commonly one of the longest lasting forms of permanent makeup. Due to the thinner layers of skin around the eye area, pigment fills the skin layers more. We also don’t sweat or secrete as much oil near our eyes than other parts of our face. Lash Liner can typically last an average of 3 years; however, a refresher every 1-3 years is recommended.

How many sessions are required?

Most all forms of permanent makeup require 2 sessions to achieve optimal results. The first session is to build the foundation of the liner and the touch up session is to perfect, darken, and make adjustments if needed.

6-12 week touch ups are required for all new clients that book an initial session with us. Touch up costs are not included with your initial service cost (see touch up prices under the “How much does it cost” section below)

We will book your touch up appointment when you come in for your initial session appointment. A $50.00 booking deposit will be collected to book your touch up.

There is a chance that you will not need a touch up should you absolutely love the results from your first session which is why we separate the cost of the initial session from the touch up. If that is your case, we will cancel your touch up appointment and refund your $50.00 deposit. Cancelling a touch up will be done only if the providing permanent makeup artist is in agreement.

Is it painful?

The degree of discomfort felt during the procedure varies from person to person. A topical numbing cream is applied at the beginning of the service before we begin to minimize your discomfort. After the first pass is completed, a stronger secondary numbing gel is applied directly to your lash line. You may feel slight scratching during the first part of the application, some may experience an itchy feeling from the vibration of the tattoo machine, and slight dryness while the lash line is exposed while being tattooed.

Am I a good candidate?

It is recommended that you have any lash extensions removed at least ONE WEEK PRIOR to your appointment to avoid any possible reaction to the removal solution.

I already have tattooed eyeliner, can I book with you?

This depends on what you are wanting to get done. If you are wanting an existing eyeliner tattoo redone, you will need to send us a photo of yourself before booking an appointment.

Existing pigment in the skin needs to be faded enough for Heather to work over. If the existing pigment that is in your skin is dark, solid, blue, or the shape needs to be corrected we may not be able to take you.

What should I do or avoid before my appointment?

  • Do not work out 24 hours before procedure.

  • No alcohol or caffeine 24 hours before procedure.

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 48 hours before procedure.

  • Avoid Fish Oil, Prenatal Vitamins, Nutritional Shakes (Shakeology, etc),  and "Hair, Skin, & Nail" supplements two weeks prior to procedure.

  • DO NOT tint or perm your lashes within 48 hours of your appointment. You will have to wait at least 14 days post procedure to tint or perm lashes.

  • Contact lenses must be removed before the procedure.

Discontinue the use of ALL EYELASH GROWTH ENHANCEMENT PRODUCTS, such as Latisse for at least 30 DAYS prior to your appointment. Prescription and over-the-counter brand lash enhancement products cause inflammation to the eyelid and lash line which is not recommended when receiving eyeliner tattooing.

Please be sure to remove any LASH EXTENSIONS prior to procedure. They may not be worn during the procedure. It is recommended that you have any lash extensions removed at least ONE WEEK PRIOR to your appointment to avoid any possible reaction to the removal solution. It is best to AVOID any lash extensions until the procedure is complete, along with the Touch Up. You will have to wait at least 14 days post procedure to have lash extensions reapplied.

Please Note: You will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.  These Pre-Care instructions are designed to limit bleeding and skin sensitivities during the service. Excessive bleeding during the procedure will dilute the pigment and can lead to poor results!

What should I do or know after my appointment?

Day 1: You’ll love your new lash line

Your eyeliner color is approximately 30% darker than it will be when it’s healed. It will also appear slightly larger than it will heal in just a few days. This is due to color oxidation as well as a small amount of swelling and it is a normal part of your healing process. You will have no trouble driving home and going about the rest of your day normally.

Days 2-3: Your color will darken temporarily as the pigment oxidizes and thin scabs will form.

You may wake up slightly puffy but you can remedy this by sleeping on an incline, applying a cool compress, and / or taking an oral anti-inflammatory. Your lash line will feel tight and dry, but not painful.

Days 3-5: Your lash line will begin flaking until there is no scabbing left.

You want to allow healing to shed naturally. Once all scabbing has finished flaking, it is common for the color to appear lighter than it will eventually heal. This lighter color is only temporary as your freshly healed skin is hiding the true color underneath. Over the next several weeks your lash line color will bloom.

Day 42: At 6 weeks your lash line is fully healed. It’s now okay for you to come back in for your touch up.

***If the swelling persists beyond 48 hours or becomes worse, or if the eyes become inflamed (red, itchy, watery, etc.) please seek medical attention. Please call us if this happens. This is a very rare occurrence, but it can develop in clients with extremely sensitive eyes.***

  • Expect light to moderate swelling and redness. Immediately after the procedure the eyelids will be slightly swollen.

  • Avoid touching your eyes with your fingers for 7 days

  • No soaps, cleanser, or shampoos on the treated area for 7 days

  • No skincare products or sunscreen on the treated area for 7 days

  • No makeup on the treated area for 7 days

  • Avoid long, steamy showers and baths for 7 days

  • No recreational water activities, such as swimming or surfing for 7 days

  • Avoid activities that would expose you to dirt and germs for 7 days

  • Avoid extreme heat and strenuous exercise for at least 3 days

  • DO NOT USE mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow, lash curlers or false eyelashes for 7 days.

  • DO NOT tint or perm eyelash or apply lash extensions for 14 days.

  • Eye contacts can not be used for 7 days after to procedure as saline solution must be avoided to prevent prematurely fading the pigment - If you wear eye contacts, please wear your eyeglasses until after 7 days post treatment.

  • Avoid sun exposure for at least 14 days (if you must be in the sun, wear a hat and/or sunglasses to protect the treated area)

  • No Rubbing, Scrubbing, Scratching or Picking the Treated Area for 7 Days. Do not pick, scratch, scrub or rub the treated area or attempt to remove any flaky, crusty, or scabby material that forms as a result of the normal healing process. Removing the crusts may result in the removal of the implanted pigment, possible scarring and/or infection.

What is the aftercare?

Cold Packs & Pain Relievers: After your procedure, cold packs with a thin fabric barrier may be applied for 10-15 minutes every half-hour (or as needed). Do not apply ice directly to the treated area. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help to ease soreness and reduce inflammation.

Cleansing the Treated Area: You will need to cleanse the treated area once in the morning and once at night for 7 days. To cleanse, gently dab or blot the treated area with a clean cotton pad lightly dampened with room-temperature water with eyes closed.

After-Care Ointment: After cleansing, apply a tiny amount of the After Inked ointment with a clean Q-tip using a gentle, dabbing motion. The ointment will help to keep the area protected, prevent scabbing and accelerate healing. Continue to apply a tiny amount of ointment to the lash line when / if you notice the area is feeling dry.

When Sleeping: You may want to put an old pillowcase or towel on your pillow for the first night or two after your procedure, as there could be pigment or fluid seepage that could stain.

When should I schedule a 1-3 year refresher?

Your refresher should be scheduled any time from 1-3 years after your most recent touch up session. If you’re unsure of when your last touch up was, contact us.

Before you book your appointment, please send us photos of your eyes so we can make sure that you are ready for your refresher.

Your eyeliner should have faded at least 50% from the healed result after your last session in order for us to perform your refresher. If your eyeliner is too saturated with pigment, new pigment won’t retain properly and your healed result won’t look great.

New client lower liner: $300

New client upper and lower liner: $500

6-12 week touch up: $150

What is Lip Blush?

Lip Blushing is a form of permanent makeup for the lips. Pigment is tattooed with a tattoo machine and needle within the upper Dermis skin layer of the lips. The lips will heal with a subtle wash or "blush" of color comparable to a lip tint or satin lipstick. Lip Blush can be done on any lips including but not limited to lips with filler, scarred lips, hyperpigmented lips, hypopigmented lips, cleft lips, mature lips, and "normal" lips.

How many sessions are required?

Most all forms of permanent makeup require 2 sessions to achieve optimal results. The first session is to build the foundation of the lips and the touch up session is to perfect, darken, and make adjustments if needed.6-12 week touch ups are required for all new clients that book an initial session for Lip Blushing with us. Touch up costs are not included with your initial service cost (see touch up prices under the “How much does it cost” tab above or on the booking page)

How long do they last?

You should expect Lip Blush to last approximately 2 or more years depending on the individual client and skin type. You should expect to schedule a Refresher service every 1-3 years to prolong the application.

Is it painful?

The degree of discomfort may depend on several factors such as the location of the application and your personal pain tolerance. Most clients will report up to a level 3 on a 1-10 pain scale. A topical numbing solution may be applied prior to the start of the service. You may feel slight scratching during the first part of the application. After the outline of the lips has been completed, a second numbing solution will be applied directly onto the freshly tattooed outline that will help to minimize any discomfort. Reapplying numbing throughout the procedure may negatively affect your results, so we will refrain from doing so unless you are unable to continue the procedure without.

I got my lips done elsewhere, can I book with you?

You will need to send us a photo of your lips before booking an appointment.

Existing pigment in the skin needs to be faded enough to work over. If the existing pigment that is in your skin is dark, solid, discolored, or the shape needs to be corrected we will likely refer you for removal.
